Title: Artificial leaf for solar fuel production-active oxides based photoelectrode device

报告人: Dr.Yongqi Liang

时间:2013年11月27日 上午10:30-12:00

地点:北京大学深圳研究生院 C-103
主办方:新材料学院

Abstract
During this talk, the development of the filed of artificial leaf will be briefly reviewed. A different type of artificial leaf with the liquid junction between active oxide and water will be elucidated. Various strategies to optimize the performance of the oxide photoelectrodes for solar water splitting will be discussed. The new insights on the processes at the oxide/water interface offer important clues to develop practical artificial leaves for solar fuel production.

Biography: Yongqi Liang got his phd degree in peking unviersity in 2005 under  the supervision of prof. Dongsheng Xu, and his reserach was on the nanowire arrays for the optoelectronic applications. He then moved to Delft unviersity of Technology (Netherlands), and started his postdoc research on solar water splitting on transitional metal oxides. He pioneered the research on Fe2O3 and BiVo4 photoelectrodes, which were later proven to be two of the most suitable mateirals sfor practical solar fuel production. In 2009, he moved to Unviersity of Wyoming (USA) with the intention to find better photoelectrodes through combinatorial methods. He moved to Umea university (Sweden) in 2012, and his research interest there is to prototype artifical leaf for solar water splitting.
