Research Interests

The research group focuses on “Single-photon and optoelectronic materials, chips, and devices”. Specific research directions include:

(1) Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detector (SNSPD) Chips and Devices

Utilizing superconducting materials such as NbTiN, MgB2 and Sr2RuO4. Designing and fabricating high-performance SNSPD chips, exploring novel superconducting materials and chip fabrication processes, and developing commercial-grade devices for applications in quantum communication, quantum computing, medical imaging, and LiDAR.

(2) Quantum Emitters Based on Rare-Earth and Semiconductor Quantum Dots

Investigating novel quantum light sources using rare-earth ions, quantum dots, and perovskite materials, with a current focus on Er³⁺-doped materials.

(3) Single Photon Avalanche Detectors (SPAD) and Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs)

Developing high-performance photon avalanche single-photon detector materials and chips.

Designing and fabricating high-efficiency visible and infrared LEDs, as well as studying their device physics.
