Personal Profile
Hong Meng is currently Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Associate Dean of the School of Advanced Materials at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Sichuan University (1988), Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Peking University (1995), Master's degree in Polymer Materials from the National University of Singapore (1997), and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (2002).
For over twenty years, Professor Meng has been engaged in research on the design and synthesis of organic optoelectronic materials, fabrication of organic semiconductor devices, and development of integrated applications. He has been honored with several prestigious titles including National "Specially-Appointed Expert", Leading Talent of Guangdong's Pearl River Talent Plan, Shenzhen "High-Level Overseas Talent (Category A)", and Shenzhen "Government Special Allowance".
Professor Meng has held research positions at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) in Singapore (1997-1999), Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technology Bell Labs) in the United States (2001), and DuPont Research Center in the United States (2002-2009). After returning to China in 2012, he served as Technical Director at Shenzhen Leputai Technology Co., Ltd., where he led research on synthetic chemical toners and conductive rubber core materials. In March 2014, he joined Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School as a faculty member.
Since joining Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School in 2014, Professor Meng has established and served as Director of several key research platforms including the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Flexible Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, Guangdong International Joint Research Center for Optoelectronic Materials and Device Technology, Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Organic Optoelectromagnetic Functional Materials, and Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Nano-Photoelectric Printing Materials. These laboratories closely align with national development policies, integrating advanced technologies from both industry and international sources. They are dedicated to molecular design and synthesis of organic optoelectronic materials, device development, and industrial applications, with particular focus on solving critical "bottleneck" material challenges in the optoelectronic industry. The laboratories aim to further advance optoelectronic technology development, establish world-leading organic optoelectronic material technology platforms, provide strong technical support and innovation platforms for enterprises in Guangdong and nationwide, and propel the development of China's optoelectronic materials industry to new heights.
Professor Meng has published over 150 papers in internationally renowned academic journals including Journal of the American Chemical Society (J. Am. Chem. Soc.), Advanced Materials (Adv. Mater.), Advanced Functional Materials (Adv. Funct. Mater.), Angewandte Chemie International Edition (Angew. Chem., Int. Ed.), and Advanced Energy Materials (Adv. Energy Mater.). His Google Scholar H-index is 46. He has applied for more than 120 invention patents (with over 40 granted) and 45 international patents (with 32 granted). He has been recognized in Stanford University's list of the world's top 2% most-cited scientists.
