The Materials Genome Major Science and Technology Infrastructure is a major scientific and technological infrastructure constructed under the organization of Shenzhen Municipality. Shenzhen Guangming Science City Development and Construction Co., Ltd. undertakes the integrated management responsibility for "investment, construction, operation, and transfer" of Shenzhen's major scientific and technological infrastructure. It is led by Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), with cooperative construction and operation by Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School. The Materials Genome Facility adheres to the concept of "openness, sharing, and innovation," aiming to build a world-class comprehensive public platform that achieves full-chain coverage of materials R&D – from design, screening, and synthesis to characterization, and then to application testing. It aims to improve the efficiency and accuracy of materials design and R&D, halving both the R&D cycle and costs for new materials, thereby providing solid technical support for leapfrog development in China's materials science field.
The Materials Genome Major Science and Technology Infrastructure comprises four major platforms: the High-Throughput Preparation Platform, the High-Throughput Laboratory Characterization Platform, the High-Throughput Neutron Characterization Platform, and the High-Throughput Computing and Database Platform, with a total investment exceeding 700 million RMB. The facility will focus on major national strategic needs, particularly in industrial fields such as energy and environment, electronic information, biomedicine, aerospace, and biomimetic materials. It is committed to solving critical technical bottlenecks, promoting industrial upgrading, and making greater contributions to national technological progress and social development.
