2026 M-Talents Summer School Brings 21 Countries to PKU
From July 20–29, Peking University’s School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Advanced Materials hosted the 2026 M-Talents International Summer School across its Beijing and Shenzhen campuses. With the theme “Frontier Materials Science and Cross-Cultural Exchange,” the program welcomed 61 outstanding young scholars from 21 countries—a record in participation.

Through lectures, lab demonstrations, industry site visits, and cultural workshops, participants explored cutting-edge topics including AI-driven materials discovery, nanomaterials, and sustainable energy technologies. The curriculum bridged fundamental research and real-world applications, offering students a comprehensive view of the materials innovation pipeline.

Beyond the lab, the program emphasized meaningful cultural exchange. Calligraphy and seal-carving workshops introduced participants to Chinese artistic traditions, while a vibrant “Culture Night” featured traditional music performances and country presentations, turning the campus into a global village.

In Shenzhen, students visited leading tech companies and research facilities, gaining insight into how materials science powers advances in digital technology and communications. Urban tours highlighted the city’s remarkable transformation, adding a layer of cultural and historical context to the scientific agenda.

The closing ceremony marked a celebratory end to the ten-day journey. Participants received their certificates surrounded by new friends and lasting memories—a testament to the program’s success in building both academic bridges and personal connections.

Now in its latest edition, the M-Talents Summer School continues to serve as a dynamic platform for international collaboration, fostering the next generation of materials scientists and strengthening global ties in research and education.
