I. Course Introduction

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with a solid understanding of general laboratory safety knowledge and basic safe operating procedures. Students will learn to recognize the characteristics, phenomena, and causes of various safety issues in research and teaching laboratories, as well as the principles and measures for prevention and protection.

Course Foundation: The course will cover a wide range of laboratory safety topics, including physical and chemical safety, hazardous waste disposal, biosafety and biochemical material safety, fire protection, ergonomics in the workplace, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures. In addition, given the increasing role of nanotechnology in research, the course will also introduce fundamental safety concepts related to nanotechnology.

Course Features: The course will be primarily lecture-based, while also encouraging student participation through discussions and presentations on selected topics.
