Abstract
Dr Andrew Bissette is Editor-in-Chief at Cell Reports Physical Science (CRPS). He holds a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Oxford and has eight years of experience as a professional editor, having started his career at Nature Research in 2017. Dr Qiuming Ma is Senior Scientific Editor at CRPS, and he and Andrew will give an overview of the structure of a modern scientific publishing portfolio and the differing aims of different journals, before giving advice on best practices when writing manuscripts, and successfully navigating the peer review process from submission to final decision.
Speaker's Introduction
Andrew received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Manchester, UK, and carried out his DPhil and post-doctoral training at the University of Oxford. His editorial career began in 2017 when he moved to Communications Chemistry as one of the launch team, handling submissions across chemical biology, organic, and supramolecular chemistry. He joined Cell Reports Physical Science (CRPS) in December 2021, and became Editor-in-Chief in September 2024. Andrew is based in the London office.
Qiuming obtained his bachelor' s degree in energy and power engineering from Xi' an Jiaotong University. This was followed by a PhD at INSA Toulouse, Universite de Toulouse, and postdoctoral work at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research centered on process engineering of solar energy applications. In 2021, Qiuming took on an editorial role at Wiley, before joining Cell Press in June 2023. Qiuming also serves as a consulting editor and handles submissions for Joule.
