A high-level delegation from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, visited Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ) on April 3, 2026, for strategic discussions on scientific innovation, industry-academia integration, and joint research in cutting-edge fields.

The delegation was led by Professor Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of A*STAR’s Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC). They were received by Professor Zhang Jin, Executive Vice President of Peking University and Chancellor of PKUSZ. Also attending from PKUSZ were Professor Tan Wenchang, Party Secretary; Professor Tian Yonghong, Vice Chancellor; and Professor Zou Ruqiang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, among other faculty and administrative leaders.
During the meeting, Professor Zhang Jin extended a warm welcome to the Singaporean guests and highlighted PKUSZ’s strategic positioning within the Greater Bay Area. He outlined the School’s three core development priorities for the upcoming "15th Five-Year Plan" period: internationalization, AI for Science, and technology transfer. “We hope this exchange will help match research capabilities with industrial resources, turning collaboration intentions into tangible outcomes that serve national strategies and foster international tech innovation,” said Professor Zhang.
Professor Lim Keng Hui thanked PKUSZ for its hospitality and noted the strong alignment between A*STAR’s priorities and PKUSZ’s development strategies. He expressed interest in deepening collaboration in frontier research, joint talent development, and industrial translation of research results. “We look forward to accelerating concrete cooperation, using technological innovation as a bridge to inject new momentum into Singapore-China scientific exchange and support high-quality economic and social development in both regions,” said Professor Lim.
Prior to the meeting, the A*STAR delegation toured PKUSZ’s Nanyan Graphene Materials Laboratory and the AI for Science Digital Life Sciences Research Platform. On April 4, representatives from both sides conducted joint site visits to BYD’s headquarters, XtalPi, and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone in Hetao.

The visit reflects the growing commitment of both institutions to foster international research partnerships and drive innovation that addresses real-world challenges.
