Time:Mar 2, 2026

Hits:

Applications for the 2026–2027 University-Level Exchange Programmes with partner institutions in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan are now open. Eligible students are encouraged to apply based on their current academic standing at PKU. Full programme details can be found in the attached document.

I. Eligibility

This call for applications is open to full-time, non-graduating students of Peking University.

Exchange programmes with institutions in Hong Kong and Macao are open to undergraduate students only. Exchange programmes with institutions in Taiwan are open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Each student may apply for only one programme. Multiple applications will result in disqualification.

Current PKU students holding Hong Kong residency are not eligible to apply for exchange programmes in Hong Kong. Similarly, students holding Macao residency may not apply for programmes in Macao, and students holding Taiwan residency may not apply for programmes in Taiwan.

II. Application Timeline

8:00 AM, 3 March (Tuesday) – 5:00 PM, 9 March (Monday)

III. How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online via the PKU Portal. Navigate to Personal Services → Overseas Study Programmes, then use the filter to select University-Level Exchange – PKU Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Exchange Programmes. Please ensure you register using your student ID number. Paper applications will not be accepted.

Required documents to be uploaded in the online system:

Basic personal information (to be completed in the form);

Academic transcript in Chinese (PDF);

Proof of language proficiency (PDF). Please check the host institution’s website and upload the relevant English language certificate as required. If the host university does not specify any language requirement, please upload your CET-4/CET-6, IELTS, TOEFL, or GRE scores;

Personal statement in Chinese. Undergraduate students should provide a study plan for the exchange period. Graduate students should provide a research plan. Please be as detailed as possible;

Personal ID photo.

IV. Selection Process

An initial review will be conducted based on applicants’ character, academic performance, language proficiency, and personal statement. A selection panel composed of representatives from the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office, the Office of Educational Affairs, the Graduate School, and faculty members will then conduct interviews (shortlisted candidates will be notified by email). The preliminary list of nominated candidates will be determined based on the overall assessment. Should any exchange places remain unfilled, the University may consider调剂 candidates based on application materials and interview performance.

Nominated students will be recommended by PKU to the respective partner institutions in Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan. Final admission decisions rest solely with the host institutions, considering factors such as subject match, curriculum compatibility, language requirements, and available places.

Students who are admitted by the host institution must complete the required outward travel procedures as instructed. Upon completion of the exchange, a summary report must be submitted. Once a student accepts a place in the programme, withdrawal is not permitted except under exceptional circumstances.

At the end of this semester, the University will conduct a final review of all successful applicants and reserves the right to revoke the exchange eligibility of any student whose academic performance or other circumstances render them unsuitable for participation.

V. Important Notes

1. Applicants must carefully review the eligibility criteria on the official websites of their chosen host institutions, including requirements regarding GPA, subject restrictions, exchange period (ensuring no conflict with the PKU academic calendar), year of study, language proficiency, and application deadlines. Failure to meet these requirements may result in non-admission, for which the applicant bears full responsibility. Applicants should note that information on host institution websites is subject to change.

2. To facilitate credit transfer, undergraduate students must select courses at the host institution that align with their major at PKU. Graduate students seeking credit transfer must obtain approval from their supervisor and home department head.

Students in their graduating semester are not eligible to participate. Students who have been recommended for postgraduate study without the entrance examination must independently confirm that they can meet the host institution's start-of-semester requirements before applying; otherwise, applications will not be accepted.

3. Students from Shenzhen Graduate School wishing to apply for exchange programmes in Taiwan must first consult the responsible teacher at the SZG Academic Affairs Office regarding relevant policies and procedures for travel to Taiwan. Applications will only be accepted after obtaining permission.

4. Applicants who do not yet possess a language proficiency certificate at the time of application must specify in the application notes the expected date by which they will obtain their test scores, to allow for assessment. Applications may be submitted before taking the test. Applicants are responsible for ensuring they can provide a valid score that meets the host institution’s requirements before the stated deadline. Due to high application volumes, shortlisting for interviews will be based on the strength of submitted materials. Applications without any proof of language proficiency and without explanatory notes may not pass the initial review.

5. Due to factors such as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan entry-exit policies, the arrangements for this programme are subject to adjustment based on the actual situation at the time, as well as the latest requirements of PKU and the partner institutions. The University will communicate any changes to applicants promptly and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
